Why You Need Your SR22 Insurance In Place
What is an SR22 and how does the process actually work?
SR22 auto insurance can be obtained via an insurance company that is authorized to write these SR22 Arizona policies. When a payment is received from an insurance agency, an agent will then submit a formal request for the SR22 certificate.
This newly issued certificate will then be sent to the Secretary of State within the state of Arizona. This process can take 30 days or more to complete. Upon the acceptance of the policy, the driver will receive a legal copy of the SR22 form from insurance agency and a will also receive a formal letter from the Secretary of State or Arizona.
Once this new insurance is in place, it must be in force for a period of 36 months. If for some reason the driver allows the SR22 to expire, or it is cancelled, the insurance agent is required by law to issue an SR26 Cancellation Certificate.
Once this receipt is issued, a Type Action 05 suspension on the driving record will happen. Unfortunately This suspension can not be removed until this insurance filing has been re-instated. You don’t want this to happen….so keep your Arizona SR22 insurance in place at all times!
