Unique Disability Scholarships for Spina Bifida
Not too many people have heard of scholarships for spina bifida. One that is well known and unique because it’s not a common illness is the annual Jean Driscoll Scholarship worth up to $1,000. Jean Driscoll was born with Spina Bifida. She is an accomplished athlete and speaker who iswell known around the world. She has overcome the odds and has had an incrediable life so far. Jean is an Olympic athlete who won Silver medals in the 1992 and 1996 in the Summer olympic games. She has a world record in the 10,000 meter track event as well as the 10K and marathon road racing distances. She won the Boston Marathon 8x’s and is the only person in the race’s 111 year history to achieve this feat. She even has a street named after her in Champaign, IL and a park pavilion named after her in Urbana, Illinois. She has overcome her spina bifida disability and has accomplished great things. Through her disability scholarships she is trying to help others to overcome their spina bifida disability and lead a accomlished life. There are other little knowned spina bifida scholarships too that continue to help those who suffer with this disability.
