Culinary Arts - The Forgotten Art of Cooking

Do you find yourself making excuses for not learning how to cook? There’s no good reason for it, really.  Just go to a bookstore or library and you’ll see plenty of cooking books as well as magazines filled with cookery articles. In addition, there are plenty of food and cooking programs on TV, including entire channels dedicated to it. We even have celebrity chefs today.

Despite all of that however, the culinary arts are actually being neglected as more people prefer instant meals and processed food. The reason given by everyone is they’re busy with work and other activities, and have no time to prepare meals from scratch. The culinary arts are sadly being neglected. To add to the problem, schools are not teaching the next generation about nutrition and how to cook proper meals.

However, do you realize that a home cooked meal is much healthier than processed food high in fat, salt, and preservatives, and is much cheaper than eating at restaurants? When you prepare your own meals you can select the freshest and healthiest ingredients, and you can show off your culinary skills. If you don’t think you have good enough skills, you may want to consider attending a culinary arts college. Who knows, you may end up choosing a career in culinary arts! American Food

When most people think of American food, they picture pretty basic offerings. “American as apple pie,” the phrase that has been uttered millions of times in this country, comes to mind first, but soon after is followed by hamburgers, french fries, chicken dinners, and meatloaf. All of these are quite popular American foods, even if they are simple fare. But they are only one aspect of our native cuisine. America is one of the greatest countries in the world, and we have developed one of the greatest and most varied diets on the planet.
Of course, many of the most famous American foods are comfort foods. Southern food, for example, is distinctly American.
